Meadow Farm Barn

Meadow Farm

Clayland Architects designed this contemporary barn conversion to a residential dwelling. The historic barn had previously been used for agricultural storage before its restoration and repair. The minimalist treatment of ‘the new’ contrasted richly with the craftsmanship and materials of the existing rustic features. The design retained all the existing notable character features such as oak beams, trusses, pamment floors and exposed internal brick walls.

The layout incorporates 2 storey glazed mezzanine areas to maximise light and create open plan spaces. The barn benefits from high levels of thermal insulation, lining the building envelope and improving the efficiency of the under-floor heating system throughout. Our services involved achieving planning consent, building regulations approval and project managing the build which was an LABC Finalist.
